Get Your Site Live with Web Hosting | Using Hostgator
HostGator.com is a hosting company where you can launch a new website. Here are six steps for getting started using HostGator.
Today, I am going to walk you through the steps to getting set up with Hostgator.
1. Purchase a hosting plan at Hostgator.com
Go to the hostgator.com website. Click “View WebHosting Plans” and choose the plan that’s best for you. I’d recommend Monthly Baby Plan since you get unlimited domains. When you’ve chosen a plan you like — click “Buy Now!” and continue with the sign up process.
2. How to buy a domain at HostGator
DONT HAVE A DOMAIN? If you don’t have a domain you can enter a new domain on the left and purchase it. Then continue.
HAVE A DOMAIN? If you already own a domain type it in on the right, and continue.
Want HostGator for 1 month free? – Enter in code “pfnp2ga902” at the bottom for a discount
3. Checkout: Purchase your domain and hosting at HostGator
Fill in all your data on the next page. Notice the discount. Click Create Account.
Want HostGator for one month free?
Enter the code “onemonthcode″ for a discount. If you choose the Baby Monthly plan it should go down to only $0.01. Note that after 1 month it will renew for full price of about $8/month. So if you don’t want to keep this after the class than please just cancel it within a month.
(OR) Want HostGator for 30% off the lifetime of your account?
Enter the code “golongerplease” (this is a better deal if you plan on keeping the account for longer then a few months).
4. Save your Welcome email
You should receive a welcome email. It will have you username, password, DNS and a bunch of other important login information. Save this email, it’s important!
5. Log into your control panel (CPanel) at Hostgator
Once you have your email (step #4) click on the control panel link and login to your “Control Panel”. Works? Good!
6. Congrats!
If you’re inside the control panel that means you successfully setup your web hosting! From the control panel you can now add domains, WordPress installations, databases, setup an email address, and access your files via SFTP or the command line.
